St. John's Children's Choir

Due to the abundance of children in the parish, the St. John’s Children’s Choir is one of two children’s choirs in the music program.

Started in November, 2008, the St. John’s Children’s Choir is conducted by Dr. Jeffrey Alban. This choir has grown from a mere seventeen singers in 2008 to an impressive fifty-two member ensemble.

The children sing a variety of unison and 2-part treble music, including Gregorian Chant Masses, hymns, and anthems. The children sing for selected 8:30am Masses on Sundays (please see schedule) and the parish’s First Communion Mass.

In addition to singing, the children learn basic musical elements, music reading skills, and proper vocal technique. New singers, ages 8-13, are always welcome. There are no auditions, and no previous singing experience is necessary. Rehearsals are scheduled for each Thursday from 4:30 — 5:30pm in Fr. Ruehl Hall.
