St. John's Schola

Since its official inception in October, 2008, the St. John’s Schola has taken on an active role in the musical life of the parish. While the ensemble’s primary duty is singing on the first Sunday of the month at the Mass in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite (Tridentine Mass, 12:30pm), the Schola often sings the Proper chants for additional Masses in both the Extraordinary and Ordinary Forms of the Roman Rite.

Conducted by Dr. Jeffrey Alban, the Schola is comprised of 6-10 gentlemen dedicated to the learning, singing, and promotion of Gregorian Chant in its liturgical placement as the official music of the Roman Catholic Church. New singers, gentlemen ages 14 and older, are always welcome. There are no auditions, and no previous singing experience is necessary. Rehearsals are scheduled for each Wednesday from 6:00 — 7:15pm in Fr. Ruehl Hall.
